Clerk to the Governors Vacancy
Permanent, part time, term time only, £13.11 per hour
Sussex Learning Trust is a growing Multi-Academy Trust in the Mid-Sussex area and our aim is to play an integral part in providing the highest possible educational opportunities for children and young people of the area. The Trust is seeking to appoint a Clerk to join our organisation in September 2022 to support the efficient and effective governance operations.
This post is part time, 6-7 hours per week, to be worked over 2 set half days per week (to include covering scheduled evening meetings currently held on Thursdays between 4.30pm - 7.00pm), term time only. The hours can be worked from home or on site but meetings must be attended in person. Applicants must have their own transport and flexibility will be required to attend out of hours meetings as required.
The Clerk role is predominantly an administrative role, supporting the Governance Support Officer in delivering and overseeing all aspects of governance compliance and effectiveness within the Trust and its academies. The successful candidate will provide clerking services to the local governing body of Trust academies within the Haywards Heath area and local villages.
Responsible for advising the local governing bodies that they support on constitutional matters, duties and powers, the clerk will work within the current legislative framework. We are keen to hear from candidates with excellent administrative, organisational and interpersonal skills who will bring experience and a proven track record as a highly effective clerk.
The successful candidate will need to be able to work under their own initiative, manage deadlines, update, and keep accurate written and electronic records. The ability to remain impartial, comply with data protection legislation and maintain confidentiality is paramount. Knowledge of how
academies and governing boards operate is desirable and previous experience of similar work
would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.
If you are looking for a role that will challenge and test your skillset and you would like to be considered for this post, please download further information and an application form, available on www.wardenpark.co.uk. Please direct any enquiries or email your completed application form as
