A vacancy has arisen for a one-to-one/general Teaching Assistant within our lovely school, commencing as soon as possible.  Northlands Wood entered into a new phase of being an Academy nearly two years ago, so this is an exciting time to join our inclusive and child-centred school.  We pride ourselves on our whole-child ethos, promoting Learning Skills, Emotional Literacy, Attitudes and Feelings.

Our teaching assistants support the learning of all children, including those with Special Educational Needs.  If you believe that all children’s needs should be supported within a mainstream setting and you have the skills to support children’s learning and their wider well-being we would love to hear from you.

Like all schools, we need to work creatively to be able to offer the support children need as school budgets are squeezed.  We believe we can do this through a whole school passion for inclusion and collaborative and solution-focused problem-solving.  If you can contribute to this work we can reward you with a real sense of success as well as a sense of team work and belonging.

You should be comfortable working with children from 4-11 and have the necessary subject knowledge to support children with reading, writing and maths up to the level required at Foundation Stage/Key Stage 1.  Usually this will be a minimum of a GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.  You should have experience working with children in a school setting.  A relevant qualification is desirable.

You should be willing to undertake any necessary training to enable you to carry out your role effectively and a First Aid/Paediatric First Aid qualification is desirable.

Please contact the school business manager, Shelley Crowhurst, for further details and an application form.

Visits to the academy are encouraged and warmly welcomed. Please contact the academy office (01444 455653) to arrange an appointment.
