Teaching Assistant Vacancy

Sussex Learning Trust Grade 3
(£18,337 pro rata
Full time – term time only – to include some lunch cover
Actual Salary for 5 days a week: £12,351
Fixed term initially

A vacancy has arisen for a TA within our lovely school with possibly some 1:1 responsibilities, commencing from September 2022.  Northlands Wood became an Academy a few years ago, and this is an exciting time to join our inclusive and child-centred school.  We pride ourselves on our whole-child ethos, promoting Learning Skills, Emotional Literacy, Attitudes and Feelings.

Our TAs support the learning of all children, including those with SEN.  If you believe that all children’s needs should be supported within a mainstream setting and you have the skills to support children’s learning and their wider wellbeing we would love to hear from you.

Like all schools, we need to work creatively to be able to offer the support children need as school budgets are squeezed.  We believe we can do this through a whole school passion for inclusion and a collaborative, solution-focussed approach.  If you can contribute to this work we can reward you with a real sense of success as well as a sense of team work and belonging.

You should be comfortable working with children from 4-11 and have the necessary subject knowledge to support children with reading, writing and maths up to the level required from Foundation Stage to Key Stage 2.  Usually this will be a minimum of a GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.  You should have experience working with children in a school setting.  A relevant qualification is desirable.

You should be willing to undertake any necessary training to enable you to carry out your role effectively and a First Aid/Paediatric First Aid qualification is desirable.

Please speak to Mark Sears (Headteacher) or Sam Dann (Assistant Head) directly if you are interested in this position, or call the academy office (01444 455653) to arrange an appointment.

Sussex Learning Trust are an equal opportunities employer and are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check along with all other relevant employment checks. Sussex Learning Trust is committed to promoting equality of opportunity and diversity.
